How UAE annual leave works
Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Article 29), an employee who completes 1 year of service gets 30 calendar days of paid annual leave for each year. Between 6 months and 1 year, the employee gets 2 days for each month. Before 6 months, there is no annual leave.
This tool counts 2.5 days (30 ÷ 12) for each completed month of a part year after the first year. Leave not used can be carried forward only if the employer agrees. An employer may allow up to half of the yearly leave to be carried over. When employment ends, unused leave is paid out at the basic salary rate.
